HeatTrak HRT11-36 Industrial Snow-Melting Stair Mat, 11-Inch by 36-Inch, 120 Volt

HeatTrak HRT11-36 Industrial Snow-Melting Stair Mat, 11-Inch by 36-Inch, 120 Volt

Reduce slip-and-fall accidents outside your facility with this industrial snow-melting stair mat from HeatTrak. Made of an electrically operated heating element sandwiched between two protective surfaces of reinforced SBR rubber, it's as durable as automobile tires and will endure harsh wear throughout the winter. This version plugs into standard 120-volt electrical outlet and measures 11 inches wide by 36 inches long (this size is also available in a 240-volt version). HeatTrak's industrial stair mat with power unit (sold separately; view larger). HeatTrak's industrial stair and walkway mats are ideal for use over existing stairs, entranceways, loading docks, handicap ramps, rooftops, and many other surfaces, providing a clean and safe passageway for foot or wheelchair access. This stair mat continuously melts snow and ice--at a rate of 2 inches per hour--to keep surfaces constantly safe and clear. Designed to act as an entrance mat, the HeatTrak stair mat features a continuous chevron pattern to provide extra traction as well as grommet holes that enable you to secure the mat in place. This industrial stair mat from HeatTrak is sold as a single unit and requires a separately available 120-volt power unit to operate (model HR-P). Additionally, you can connect multiple stair mats via watertight connector cables to form a set (up to a total of 15 amps; see more details below). Safer, Cleaner Walkways HeatTrak's heating mats are the best solution for winter slip prevention, as they continuously melt snow and ice keeping surfaces constantly clear. And HeatTrak industrial mats are designed with a continuous chevron pattern to provide extra traction. Additionally, HeatTrak mats eliminate the need for salting entranceways, which can lead to messy floors indoors as calcium chloride gets tracked inside by foot traffic. HeatTrak mats also help preserve sidewalks, as calcium chloride will eat away at walkways over time. Melt snow at a rate of 2 inches per hour. Easily Portable, No Expensive Installations With HeatTrak there is no need for expensive installations. HeatTrak mats are portable and designed to lie on top of existing surfaces. Just place a HeatTrak mat over existing entranceways, stairs, loading docks, handicap ramps, rooftops, and more to provide a clean and safe passageway for foot and wheelchair access. Durable and Safe The engineers at HeatTrak have taken great care to develop a durable, safe, and effective snow and ice melting system, which can be left outside for the entire winter season. HeatTrak mats are made of an electrically operated heating element that's sandwiched between two protective surfaces of non-slip rubber, making them as durable as automobile tires. HeatTrak's industrial mats plug directly into either 120- or 240-volt outlets using their own equipment leakage circuit interrupter (ELCI). HeatTrak Industrial Stair Mat System Each HeatTrak industrial stair mat has watertight connector cables that enable it to connect to additional industrial stair mats. The heart of the system is the 120-volt power unit (model HR-P, sold separately and required for power), which connects to a properly grounded, standard 120-volt electrical power outlet. The power unit enables you to connect a total of 15 amps, and a single power unit can connect between 8 and 50 mats depending on size (see table below). If your connected mats exceed 15 amps, you'll have to split up the mats and use a second power unit plugged into a separate outlet. The 120-volt power unit has a 6-foot cable, but if your electrical outlet is beyond that reach, HeatTrak recommends using its 25-foot cable extender (model HR-EXT25) with a watertight seal--providing more protection against water and moisture than other outdoor-rated extension cords. Additionally, if your industrial stairs are more than 6 inches apart from each other, you'll need a 20-inch extender (model HR-EXT20). Because they're designed to be left outside all winter long, you can put your HeatTrak mats out before the winter starts and turn them on when you expect snow. For best results, turn on your HeatTrak mast at least 30 minutes before snowfall so that it melts snow on contact (turning on the mats after snowfall will take longer to melt). Then, keep the mats on a few hours after snow has stopped as you may have water runoff. The mats work effectively down to -5 degrees F and melt snow at approximately 2 inches per hour.   Connect additional stair mats to form a set (stair mats sold as a single unit; power unit sold separately; view larger). To operate the mats, you will need to go outside to turn them on via the power unit. To automatically control the mats from inside, you can purchase the optional wireless control outlet and switch (model HR-Wireless for 120-volt mats only). Alternatively, you can purchase HeatTrak's optional 10-inch thermostat extension cable (model HR-Therm3550), which plugs into your mat's power 120-volt unit from an electrical outlet and will automatically turn on your mats when the temperature drops below 35 degrees F. Another option is HeatTrak's thermostat and snow sensing controller (model DS-2B), which turns on your mats when the temperature is below 38 degrees F and it senses moisture (requires hardwired installation by a certified electrician; works with both 120- and 240-volt mats). HeatTrak mats can be used on most surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, stone, and wood decks. However, decks made of plastic/composite material can act as an insulator, and use of HeatTrak mats can leave burn marking or staining. To avoid this, it's best to operate the mat during snow fall hours and not leave them on for extended periods of time, or place strips of plywood under the mats to allow the heat to be properly distributed.
